The Wave Vest celebrates the Hokusai print; The Great Wave. Featuring a striking two-tone graphic stitch, it's easy to wear and perfect for layering all year round. Knitted circular from the bottom up in a two colour stripe, combining garter rib stitch and looped stripe stitch.

 

This pattern provides easy to follow detailed instructions using the following techniques: long-tail cast on, knitting in the round, knit and purl stitches, slip stitch, decreases, picking up stitches, cast off, reading charts, horizontal invisible seam.

Skill Level: Intermediate. 

 

Sizing: 8 sizes (XS-4X) see size guide. Alice wears size 2 (S).

 

Yarn: DK weight yarn, you will need approx. 140g/314m [165g/370m, 185g/414m, 210g/470m, 225g/504m, 250g/560m, 275g/616m, 300g/672m] of colour A and 130g/286m [155g/341m, 175g/385m, 200g/440m, 215g/473m, 240g/528m, 265g/583m, 290g/638m] of colour B.

 

For the blue vest we have used:

Colour A - Blue in sample: 3 [4, 4, 5, 5, 5, 6, 6] balls of UK Alpaca Superfine Alpaca DK in Midnight Blue - 75% Superfine Alpaca, 25% Wool. (112m/123yds per 50g ball.)

 

Colour B - White in sample: 2 [2, 2, 2, 3, 3, 3, 3] balls of By Laxtons Sheepsoft DK in Airedale - 100% British Wool. (220m/241yds per 100g ball.)

 

Alternative Yarns: Sandnes Garn Double Sunday, Drops Karisma, Lang Yarns Merino 120.

 

Suggested Needle Sizes:  4.5mm/US 7 circular knitting needles, length 80cm/32'' and 50cm/20''.

5mm/US 8 circular knitting needles, length 80cm/32''.
