The Scribble Cardigan is the perfect project if your looking to try something new. Knitted using two different needle sizes, the open and airy stitch has contrasting vertical stripes of structure and open webs. It's designed with a relaxed drop shoulder and super cropped shape, perfect for layering. 

 

The Scribble Cardigan is knitted flat in three pieces, the body and two sleeves. It's knitted in an all over open stitch with slip stitches keeping the front edges neat.

 

This pattern provides easy to follow detailed instructions using the following techniques: 

Cable cast on, knit, purl, skipping stitches, purl over, cast off, slip stitch, increasing and invisible seaming.

Skill Level: Intermediate. 

 

Sizing: 8 sizes (XS-4X) see size guide. Alice wears size 2 (S).

 

Yarn: Fingering weight yarn with approximately 155m/50g. You will need approx 258g/800m [275g/853m, 292g/905m, 308g/955m, 335g/1039m, 358g/1108m, 385g/1194m, 418g/1295m].

 

Linen yarn works really well for this pattern, creating a lovely drape and texture that just gets better with wear. We have used:

 

5 [6, 6, 7, 7, 8, 8, 9] balls of Quince & Co Sparrow, eclipse - 100% Linen. (155m/168yds per 50g skein.)

 

Other yarn suggestions:

Suggested Needle Sizes: 

5mm/US 8 circular knitting needles
10mm/US 15 circular knitting needles

Both length 100-120cm/40-47''. You will be knitting flat on these needles, but the cord length is needed to work comfortably across your work.

 

Gauge:  Open stitch using 5mm/US 8 and 10mm/US 15 knitting needles:

10cm/4'' x 10cm/4'' = 21sts x 17 rows
