The Rye Hoodie is knitted in a drop rib stitch, creating a subtle linear texture with a light, airy feel. It has a relaxed fit, complemented by drop shoulder sleeves and structured 1x1 rib trims. It's knitted in a lace-weight mohair yarn on 5mm (US 8) needles, giving the fabric a lightweight and semi-sheer quality that's perfect for layering.

 

The Rye Hoodie is knitted in the round from the top down. The pattern starts at the back neck, knitting the back yoke first. The left and right fronts are picked up and knitted from the shoulders, then stitches are cast on to join the fronts and the front yoke is knitted. The front and back are joined and knitted in the round until the hem is cast off. Stitches are picked up around the armholes and knitted to form the sleeves. The hood is picked up and knitted around the neck, finished with a double knit trim.

 

This pattern provides easy-to-follow detailed instructions using the following techniques: 

Cable cast on, knit, purl, drop stitch, increasing, decreasing, knitting in the round, slip stitch, tubular cast off, picking up stitches, double knit trim.

Sizing: 8 sizes (XS-4X); see size guide. Note that the pattern includes instructions for 7 sizes, as sizes 5 and 6 follow the same instructions. Alice wears size 2 (S).

 

Yarn: Lace weight yarn approx. 225g/25m.

You will need approx. 161g/1450m, [175g/1575m, 192g/1728m, 207g/1863m, 225g/2025m, 243g/2187m, 262g/2358m].

 

For the pink hoodie we used: 

7 [7, 8, 9, 9, 10, 11] balls of Knitting for Olive Soft Silk Mohair in ballerina. 70% kid mohair and 30% silk. (225m/246yds per 25g ball.)

 

For the light blue hoodie we used: 

7 [8, 9, 9, 10, 11, 12] balls of Majo Garn Pearl Mohair in Mist - 70% super kid mohair and 30% silk. (210m/230yds per 25g ball.)

 

Alternative yarn suggestions: Drops Kid-Silk, Gepard Garn Kid Seta, Önling No 10 silk mohair.

 

Suggested Needle Size: 

3mm/US 2.5 circular knitting needles, length 40-50cm/16-20'' and 80-100cm/32-40''.

 

5mm/US 8 circular knitting needles, length 40-50cm/16-20'', 60-80cm/24-32'', and 80-100cm/32-40''.

 

Gauge:  Drop Rib Stitch using 5mm/US 8 knitting needles:

10cm/4'' x 10cm/4'' = 17sts x 32 rows
